Over 15,000 individuals have benefited from the work of the AC Care Alliance founded in Alameda County, California. In 2013, five denominationally diverse African-American pastors in the county recognized increasing problems with serious health concerns among their congregants and poor integration of spiritual concerns into health care for those with serious illnesses. In response, with input from congregants, health systems, community groups and national organizations, the AC Care Alliance Advanced Illness Care Program™(ACCA-AICP) was developed.
We welcomed executive director, Rev. Cynthia Carter Perrilliat for a conversation around the essential role of the organization and the powerful outcomes for the community. With a network today of over 40 churches situated in multiple counties, the AC Care Alliance bridges the gap between health delivery systems, community organizations, faith-based communities and communities of color in managing advanced illness.

Guest Speaker Bio:
Rev. Cynthia Carter Perrilliat is Executive Director and Co-Founder of the AC Care Alliance. She has over 25 years of experience as a hospice and palliative care educator, trainer and marketing professional. Over the last 15 years, she has focused on advance illness and end of life care program development and educational training in the African American community. As part of a national Healthcare/Hospice organization, Rev. Carter-Perrilliat established a targeted compassionate care approach to communities of color, which was adopted and replicated across the organization’s multi-state footprint. She also served as faculty member of the Duke University APPEAL program, a Palliative Care Educational Curriculum for African Americans at the end of life. She is a much sought-after motivational speaker and advocate for health equity and inclusion for communities of color; an ordained minister, serving at the historic Allen Temple Baptist Church, Oakland CA, as well as a gospel recording artist under her Splendor Record label
