This workshop explores the emotional experience and reactions to our environment. We will deepen our understanding of the natural emotional responses to our life’s circumstances. Together we will tap into a greater awareness and cultivate emotional intelligence to best respond in the scenarios of life.
There is a complexity in understanding our human experience. Feelings and emotions are related and point to various aspects of our inner experience. Our emotions are bolstered by unconscious beliefs and unmet needs that may arise in response to external circumstances. Awareness of our emotional reactions and their function allows us to reorient how we respond to and interact with ourselves and others.
Mapping Emotions has benefit for everyone.
The deeper understanding of emotions and ensuing feelings is beneficial for those in the EOL Doula or caregiver role, for the dying, for their circle of care and for those who are navigating through grief. The Mapping Emotions tool helps us identify the sensations from emotional responses and the meaning we make of them, and explore the thoughts and feelings that drive them.
In this workshop, we also explore the physiological experience of our emotional responses, or how emotions are experienced in the body, such that through this process , we reconnect with the messages from our bodies that speak to our needs at any given moment. Greater emotional awareness allows us to guide and support this exploration for others.
LEARNING OBJECTIVE
Learners will be able to contextualize their emotional experiences and what feelings are associated with them, and identify their natural responses and the mental associations related to them.
Learners will identify their own emotions and participate in an interactive guided imagery technique. This model can be implemented as a self-care practice, as well as a supportive Doula method when serving the dying and their circle of care.
Together in this workshop, we will practice understanding, discerning, processing, and managing our emotions and related feelings using an interactive guided imagery technique. Come prepared to share and connect.
Join us to uncover ways to explore your own emotions and your relationship to them, and develop a process to help your clients safely explore and enter into healthier relationship with their emotions.

EDUCATORS
Our growing team of educators draws from decades of work as end-of-life doulas. Their insights and stories from the bedside capture the essence of doula work and inspire attendees to walk with them on the same path. They also have extensive backgrounds in trauma-informed care, nursing, social work, spiritual care, grief, the healing arts, adult education, and hospice administration. Every one of them has also completed or is engaged in, our doula certification process.
