One of the many questions we hear as death doulas is, “do people want to die alone”? As we work with families and their loved ones, they share with us stories that contain a common thread: after days or even weeks of being bedside of the dying loved one, they did not pass away until they were alone. The families commonly believe that their loved ones purposely waited until they left the room to die.
In this video, Henry Fersko-Weiss discusses this commonly shared belief and shares his opinion on what he’s experienced throughout his years as an end-of-life care educator, hospice social worker and death doula.
