Wilka Roig | INELDA Educator & Certification Program Manager
Thanatology is the study of death, dying, grief, loss and bereavement. Cole Imperi, the founder of American School of Thanatology, will join us this September for an engaging conversation about the history of the field of thanatology, its academic, clinical and applied approaches, and the differences between thanatology throughout the world. Additionally, we will discuss the ways in which American thanatology was connected to colonization, as well as the ways that language and culture influence and are influenced by our practices around death, dying and bereavement.
Cole has diverse experience from working in and around loss and grief since 2008 where she worked as a chaplain-thanatologist in one of America’s 25 largest jails, mortuary college professor, crematory operator, hospice volunteer, grief support group leader for children as young as 3 to adults, death companion, served on the board of a green burial startup, and as Board President of a historic cemetery and arboretum.
This webinar will be moderated by INELDA Educator and Certification Program Manager Wilka Roig.
