Doula Support in Hospitals: A conversation with Ginger Griffin
WEBINAR GUEST(s):
Ginger Griffin | Social Work Case Manager & INELDA-Trained End-of-Life Doula
MODERATOR:
Marady Duran | INELDA Educator
This July’s webinar will look at ways to incorporate the principles of deathcare that we learn as end-of-life doulas into hospital settings. Learn from an INELDA-trained doula and social worker how she was able to integrate an end-of-life program at her hospital.
In 2014, an ICU nurse manager at Ginger’s rural hospital identified the need for a palliative care room where those who should be receiving comfort care could do so rather than being subjected to aggressive treatment measures. In addition to the creation of a palliative care room, they began training hospital volunteers to be able to provide compassionate deathcare for those individuals. Learn how Ginger handles her multiple hospital roles and the ways in which the care that end-of-life doulas provide has a unique impact in hospital settings.
