Find Your Tier: INELDA Launches New Membership Program
by Loren Talbot
On December 15, 2022, we launched our new Tiered-Member Program with three membership offerings. After hearing in exit surveys and direct correspondence that the price point was too high for some and that others sought more robust membership benefits, we are excited to present enhanced offerings with membership. Depending on selected tier, benefits include educational discounts, webinar access, peer mentoring groups for INELDA-trained doulas, a membership advocacy contribution, doula certification and recertification discounts, partner program offers, and upcoming outreach materials.

We are grateful for our nearly 2,000 members who had purchased a membership prior to this date (known as our annual membership). You will remain in the annual program and will also receive the additional benefits listed under the Tier 2 program. When your annual membership expires, you will be asked to choose from one of the three membership tiers. For more information, log in to the member site and read Annual Member Benefits in the Member Benefits section.
We are excited to expand our member program and will continue adding new offerings throughout the year. We will communicate via email when new benefits are live in the member portal.
If you are considering support for INELDA, have interest in deathcare and end-of-life doula support, or were a member in the past, we invite you to join us and connect with our community. Please reach out with any questions about membership or to just say hello!

Member Advocacy Contribution
Over the past year INELDA has become more involved in policy and advocacy work across the United States. We have built into the new membership program an advocacy contribution to support outreach work to build alliances to support research and policies for equitable deathcare; support our partner program; partner with care facilities and other institutions to address gaps in end-of-life care; and to provide pro bono education for those working with the unhoused and incarcerated. Through our memberships with American Society on Aging, Coalition to Transform Advanced Care, Goals of Care Coalition, and other organizations, we are working for recognition for end-of-life doulas in the continuum of care. We always want to know what issues are important to best represent you!
Webinars
As always, we are excited to bring you another year of unique and knowledgeable speakers. Webinars are hosted the last Wednesday of each month from 7-8:30pm ET. The webinars are conducted via Zoom meetings. A recent tech update has allowed a new Q&A window in Zoom, and we and the speakers always welcome your questions and insights. We invite you to be seen in the community by leaving your cameras on and also welcome those of you who prefer to have your camera off. Tier 1 members are invited to the April and September webinars, while Tier 2 and Tier 3 members have annual live access as well as webinar archive access.
Mentoring
INELDA’s end-of-life doula peer mentoring and affinity groups are spaces for mutual support and sharing. Once a month our doula groups come together for a 90-minute conversation to explore the specific needs of doulas and clients. At the current time, only INELDA-trained Tier 2 and Tier 3 members can participate in the mentoring groups. These members can choose to join one or more of our affinity groups: BIPOC and Pride. Somewhat structured and somewhat spontaneous, each meeting will allow us time to explore topics relevant to participants while connecting with our doula community. These groups are facilitated by an INELDA educator.
Tier 2 and Tier 3 Program Partners
INELDA has joined with a few great partners that could be a benefit to you and the people you serve. Some are discounts to pass on to your clients or loved ones, while others provide support to keep doula businesses running smoothly.
We would like to introduce and thank our new program partners who are excited to support and work with INELDA Tier 2 and Tier 3 members. Over the next few months, members will receive emails dedicated to each program partner’s offer, how it may support your doula services, and how to access and use the benefits. If there are future partners you wish were part of the program, just let us know.
