Developing Rituals for Yourself and Others

Ritual is an essential component to the work we do as doulas. Many doulas benefit from personal rituals to help them stay grounded and to let go of emotions. We can use ritual in every stage of the work to enhance connection and meaning for those we serve. This workshop will explore rituals for your personal practice, beginning and ending the work with those you are supporting, as well as rituals for each stage in between. We will explore the rituals that we carry and ones from cultures around the world.

Ritual allows people to pause and move inwardly, process some of the feelings and experiences that have preceded that moment, anticipate what is coming, celebrate some aspect of the dying person’s life, and honor the caregiving provided by loved ones. Learn to create personal rituals for self-care and ways to celebrate life and transitions for clients and loved ones.

This workshop is excellent for anyone curious about end-of-life care and rituals that support death, dying, grief and self-care.

LEARNING OBJECTIVE

In this workshop, we will learn how to develop rituals for ourselves and those we support through the dying process. Join us and learn to develop rituals that honor and celebrate life in deeply meaningful ways.

EDUCATORS

Our growing team of educators draws from decades of work as end-of-life doulas. Their insights and stories from the bedside capture the essence of doula work and inspire attendees to walk with them on the same path. They also have extensive backgrounds in trauma-informed care, nursing, social work, spiritual care, grief, the healing arts, adult education, and hospice administration. Every one of them has also completed or is engaged in INELDA’s doula certification process.
