I experienced my father’s death, and the birth of my son at home with a doula, in one 13-month period. Because they occurred relatively close together, I saw how similar they were to each other. Soon after, I read a touching article about a man in Canada who approached his medically assisted dying with great dignity. The combination of these events made me realize that I wanted to serve the dying and this led me to INELDA.
In 2018 I took the INELDA Doula Training and knew that I was on the right heart path. To get more involved in end-of-life work I started volunteering for INELDA in 2019. I immediately knew that in addition to working with dying people directly, I could contribute to the organization’s growth and future development.
When I’m not crunching numbers or thinking of a more efficient process to streamline INELDA’s work, I am grounded by my husband, Raphael, our son MacArthur, and our daughter Elis Rose. I share a love of pizza and Legos with Mac and enjoy traveling with the whole family. Two cats, Zippy & Eddie along with our dog Mugsy round out my home.
