Lily Hood

Lily Hood
Educator Assistant (she/her)
Phoenix, AZ

Lily Hood was born and raised in Los Angeles but has family roots in both the Philippines and Kentucky. After spending some time bouncing between cities on both coasts, Lily found herself settling in the desert (for now). She lives in Phoenix with her husband, Billy, and their senior pup, a mixed terrier named Pippin. Lily finds joy in things like making soup from scratch, baking bread, travel built around good food and being active, and the word “cozy.” She is currently training for her first marathon, which she plans on running next year in her mother’s memory.

“After losing my mother in my 20s, I discovered a passion for normalizing conversations around grief and death. Passionate about education, advocacy, and making resources accessible, I strive to support others in navigating loss and grief. In 2020, I began cohosting a virtual grief ‘table’ for BIPOC grievers through The Dinner Party, a peer-led community for grieving individuals ages 21 to 45, and I joined TDP’s community advisory board in June 2024. It was through the TDP community that I first learned about end-of-life doulas—I was immediately drawn to deathcare.”

Committed to lifelong learning and expanding her perspective, Lily has trained as an end-of-life doula with INELDA, Going With Grace, and the University of Vermont. Before moving into deathcare, Lily held various roles in university administration, technology startup operations, and nonprofit program management. She holds a bachelor of arts in sociology from Loyola Marymount University.
