Peter Wohlsen
Educator Assistant
Brooklyn, NY
I grew up in Lancaster County in Pennsylvania, on the boundary between country and city, where I developed an innate sense of community. I moved to New York City at 17 to study art and live in a larger, more diverse place.

I worked as an artist in Brooklyn for 10 years until my mom’s death and my being hit by a car influenced my transition to a ‘traditional’ job. For me this was at a mission-driven Brooklyn food cooperative. I had kids and became involved in supply chain management during this time, incubating ideas for scaling the pragmatic idealism we embodied at the coop. My next step was building enterprise software, bringing principles of social justice & environmental sustainability to influence supply chain decisions of global organizations.

Humanity often gets lost, forgotten, and deprioritized in corporations, so after 8 years it was my time to change. Inspired by a friend facing a terminal illness, I trained as an end-of-life doula with INELDA and as a volunteer with VNS Health Hospice Care. I enjoy running, skateboarding and snowboarding and am grateful to help grow our community.
