After losing my mother, I looked for ways to improve the dying experience, leading me to INELDA, where I completed my EOL Doula and Business Development Training. I founded my company, Doula by Destiny to serve and educate the community about holistic palliative and end-of-life options. Serving as a speaking ambassador to bring awareness to the end-of-life doula movement and the significance of advance care planning, I desire that everyone achieves comfort and peace at the end of life.
As the Co-Chair of the Council of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (CEDI), one of INELDA’s advisory councils, I continue to learn, educate and advocate to improve hospice and palliative services among communities of color who are seriously ill and at the end of life. It is my hope that through education we can diminish the disparities and unique challenges individuals face in diverse communities.
My significant accomplishments are my Masters in Management of Aging Services and The Parting Gift, published in The Oprah Magazine. My self-care includes being near a body of water. I love hand-dancing, a form of dance traced to the early 1920s, prominent in DC and Maryland, cooking, and spending time with my son.
