The restrictions on gatherings and the need for physical distancing due to coronavirus has totally upended the funeral industry and altered our time-honored approaches to after-death care of loved ones. Due to the overwhelming number of deaths in our country, many funeral homes in hard-hit areas are refusing clients because they don’t have the room to keep the bodies. The same is true for Medical Examiners. As a result, some people are conducting an unintended home funeral or waiting an extremely long time for their loved one to be picked up by a local funeral home.
In this hour-long webinar for INELDA members, we will discuss with Amy Cunningham, the director at Fitting Tribute Funeral Services, LLC, how we can still imbue funeral services with the deep meaning we expect from these rituals. Cunningham will talk about traditional services in a funeral parlor, how to conduct a funeral at home under the current circumstances, and the obstacles some people are facing to a truly green burial right now.
Please join us for a fascinating and important discussion with a progressive funeral director who will speak to the problems funeral directors are facing and the solutions she and other directors are coming up with to deal with them. She will also discuss the role of doulas in funerals at a time of restriction and change.
