INELDA Update – MAY 2023

RAISING AWARENESS AND FUNDS FOR THE PEOPLE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS PROJECT

In the event you missed our webinar last month, INELDA has committed to raising $10,000 in 2023 for The People Experiencing Homelessness Project. The PEH Project was created to develop a model around supporting the unhoused and to build a curriculum around harm reduction and trauma-informed care at end-of-life. Despite more than one-third of dying Americans using hospice care, there is no current data on how many individuals experiencing homelessness have access to it.

INELDA is partnering with Building Opportunities for Self Sufficiency, Homeless Youth Alliance, International Network of Street Papers, National Harm Reduction Coalition, National Health Care for the Homeless Council, SAMHSA/Soar Works, Street Roots, and TGI Justice to understand the barriers PEH face when accessing end-of-life care and to develop resources to address unmet needs.

FIRST HOSPICE DOULA TRAINING COMPLETE

FIRST HOSPICE DOULA TRAINING COMPLETE

This past month we launched our newest doula training to support individuals working in hospice environments. This training has been specifically designed for care provider organizations such as hospice, palliative care, and clinical care teams. The emphasis is on identifying, applying, and strengthening doula principles while navigating within an existing organization model. We’d like to welcome the newest doulas to the community!
