INELDA Update – MARCH 2024
NIELSEN PROVIDES DOULA BENEFITS
INELDA is honored to announce its new partnership with Nielsen. As of 2024, a new employee benefit—which allows up to $2,500 to be used for reimbursement for end-of-life doula services—is being offered to all Nielsen employees. Jackie Good, Nielsen’s well-being manager, said, “At Nielsen we recognize the need to support our employees and their families at both the beginning of life and at the end. Having a voice, feeling cared for and often the simple company of another person during that last transition can make a world of difference—whether it is ourselves or a loved one.” Stay tuned for next month’s newsletter, which will provide more details and reimbursement directions.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
WESTERN AND CENTRAL MASSACHUSETTS
The Hospice of Western and Central MA is looking for volunteers in the Berkshire County, Springfield, and Worcester areas. It welcomes INELDA-trained end-of-life doulas as volunteers in its system. Volunteers perform direct services, both tangible and intangible, on behalf of the patients and their family as well as indirect services in administration and education on behalf of the agency.
For opportunities in the Springfield and Worcester areas, contact Liz Jezierski via email or by phone at (413) 786-4004.
For opportunities in Berkshire County, contact Peggy Zamierowski by email or by phone at (413) 442-0045.
SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WASHINGTON
Bristol Hospice in Washington state is looking to expand its volunteer program. Although the program is not looking to fill specific doula roles, volunteer coordinator Peg Shipley said, “All times are available, depending on the schedule and needs of both the volunteer and the patient/family. Additionally, end-of-life doulas who have volunteered with my program previously are very interested in the option of being able to sit vigil with a patient who is actively dying.” To learn more, contact Peg via email or by phone at (570) 637-4269.
MULTNOMAH COUNTY, OREGON
Bristol Hospice Oregon, located in Clackamas, Oregon, serves Portland and the surrounding areas. It is looking for volunteer support for its hospice throughout the region and especially in the Salem area. Contact Erin Kender via email or by phone at (570) 698-8911.

MADISON COUNTY RURAL HEALTH COUNCIL
The Madison County Rural Health Council (MCRHC), a nonprofit organization in Cazenovia, New York, has received funding from Excellus BlueCross BlueShield to provide end-of-life doula services to the residents of Madison and Oneida counties. MCRHC has partnered with INELDA to provide education to the selected community cohort. Trainees will receive INELDA’s Hospice End-of-Life Doula Training certificate of completion. After the training, all participants will work contractually under the MCRHC as doulas, to care for and support the dying and those close to them. Christine Paul, MCRHC’s executive director, said, “I am excited to be able to offer services that support all aspects of life. We look forward to providing end-of-life doulas to our community to provide support during a difficult time.”
