New Classes Get Great Responses

In early April INELDA unveiled two new one-day classes: Business Development and Guided Imagery. They were offered back-to-back on a Thursday and Friday. These two classes represent the first expansion in our offerings beyond the End of Life Doula Training. In the future, we will unveil other new classes and offerings, so stay tuned to the INELDA website and our newsletter to learn about these opportunities as soon as we can announce them.

The Business Development Class is designed to help doulas who want to establish a private practice of services offered directly to dying people and their caregivers. The class covers the basics of getting started, legal structures, how to select a name for the practice and register it as a domain name, writing a brochure and blogs, traditional and social media marketing approaches, as well as fees, contracts, forms, and resources. We believe that this course gives you a wonderful foundation in establishing a practice that can succeed over time. And our students agree. Here are just a few of the comments we received from the over thirty students who attended:

“I appreciated how ‘nuts and bolts’ it was. I feel much more prepared to do this work”

“I highly recommend this class—it was impressive.”

“I am really glad I attended this workshop. I feel like I have a solid plan now to move forward with starting my business.”

The next offering of the Business Development Class will be on October 1 in Morristown, NJ. That is the day after the doula training that runs from September 28-30 in Morristown. So, if you’re planning on attending the training that weekend, you can stay for the Business Development class the next day and save on your travel expenses. You can read more about this class on our website.

The Guided Imagery class gave attendees an opportunity to dive much more deeply into the use of this technique in the many ways it can help a dying person and family across all the phases of the doula model. We covered guided imagery for symptom relief, a general sense of well-being, the final stages of the dying process, forgiveness, grieving, and self-care. It was very experiential and helped people experience and practice the use of this very powerful technique. The reviews for this class were as positive as those for the Business Development Class. We have not yet scheduled the next offering of this class, so keep following the activity of INELDA to learn about a future date.

Both of these new classes are available to anyone who is interested in these two topics. You don’t have to be an INELDA trained doula to sign up and take advantage of these wonderful learning opportunities.

We hope to see you at one of our next classes!
