Join us for a fascinating look at the ways in which healing touch and presence can play a role in providing equitable deathcare for all, as well as the ways in which end-of-life doulas can understanding this approach to care. Doulas will learn how to connect and vet palliative care massage therapists to support their clients.
Guest Speaker Bio:

Cal Cates Cal is the founder and Executive Director of Healwell an organization whose mission it to touch people affected by serious illness, to teach massage therapists how to provide that care, and to advocate for the role of specially trained massage therapists in serious illness care . They became a massage therapist in 2005 and have been an advocate for a better world since they lobbied for a National Working Horses Day in 3rd grade.
Over the course of their career, Cal has become an award-winning writer, published researcher, and international speaker. They have trained thousands of healthcare providers in skills of resiliency, self-awareness, communication, and forgiveness. They are also keen to help the world understand that massage therapists are more than hands.
Cal has dedicated their career to advocacy in healthcare, massage therapy as social justice, and to revolutionizing education for healthcare providers. They will dance at any party anywhere.
