Building Grief and Deathcare Support for Communities of Color with PAUSE
WEBINAR GUEST:
Alica Forneret | Founder & Executive Director of PAUSE
MODERATORS:
Erika Lim | INELDA Educator
Launched in the summer of 2020, in response to the murder of George Floyd by founder Alica Forneret, PAUSE’s mission is to create spaces that produce safe, culturally-specific, and expert-informed grief and end of life resources serving Communities of Color. Started as a resource newsletter, PAUSE has grown into a versatile organization, offering a blend of digital and in-person support to individuals, corporations, and deathcare professionals.
Join Alica and INELDA educator, Erika Lim (a PAUSE Startlight resident) in a powerful conversation about the roots of the organization, the necessity for grief resources for Communities of Color, and how PAUSE is strengthening networks of grief-informed professionals—from doulas and social workers to HR leaders—to rebuild systems of care that center dignity, belonging, and mutual aid.
From the development of community-based programs to end-of-life ecosystem mapping, discover the profound impact PAUSE is having in the LA-area and throughout the nation.
This month’s webinar is free for Tier 2 & 3 members.
Tier 1 & Non-Members can purchase access for $15. Access allows you to view this webinar live on the day of the event and also to view the recording after the event.

Gathering Circle: A Space for Community, Grief, and Healing
On October 5th, INELDA is offering a gathering space for all members where community, grief, and healing can come together to sensitively hold the many crises on a global scale that we confront daily. As an organization committed to normalizing conversations around death, dying, loss, and grief; this gathering circle is created to provide space for these topics as we sit in company with one another. We hope to meet the issues of this time with a doula mindset. We will make space for feelings of sadness, rage, despair, anger, and inequities in a facilitated structure led by Amanda Faison, an INELDA-trained doula and co-founder of A&R Equity and hosted by INELDA Membership Coordinator Janine Cuthbertson.

Amanda Faison is an educator, facilitator, yoga and movement teacher, mother, and advocate for justice with extensive experience in creating learning and healing environments. Drawing on her background in education, the arts, and somatic practices, she curates spaces where our interconnected stories are honored, the fullness of the human experience is welcomed, and honest dialogue supports connection and collective healing in communities and organizations.

ABOUT THIS CLASS: Pathways to Practice is a six-week cohort-style led course to help empower you with the skills to build your unique doula practice and model of care. We have intentionally shifted away from the language of “business development” because the spectrum of doula care is vast and incorporates many ways to provide service beyond just the traditional business model. We will take learners through a discovery process of envisioning how they want to be a doula and be compensated for their care. We will guide you through trusted strategies for building a “plan for practice” that will help establish your vision for care, your definition of doula care, your impact, and the financial resources needed to sustain your practice. Lastly, participants will hear from a variety of practicing end-of-life doulas as they share their models for inspiration of paths already carved.
